Welcome to Serviceberry Farms! An Alberta Strawberry Farm and Market Garden
Current conditions - June 28, 2009.Strawberry plants are blooming and green berries are starting to form. Strawberry picking/harvest season will begin sometimes after mid July. Berry ripening is weather dependant. We will monitor crop conditions and annouce opening picking day about a week in advance. Please note that strawberries supplies may be in shorter supply this year, because some plants suffered winterkill. There are fewer strawberry plants due to the warm temperatures in early/mid April, followed by very cold temperatures last week in April. This will not affect taste or quality on surviving plants, but fewer plants mean fewer berries (yield). Updates will be posted. During the growing season, current conditions are updated regularly on this website and on a recorded telephone message. To be sure we are still picking, please call 403-934-2412 or check this website before driving to the farm.
